What do you do when you can’t bring yourself to cook dinner, so you’ve already decided it’s going to be a cereal night, you feel a little uninspired, and your kids are rabid with not being used to the free time of summer vacation yet?
Easy drawing game. That’s what. Pour those Fruity Pebbles in the bowls, grab some paper and markers, some household utensils and objects, and draw.
All you do is plunk an item onto your paper and use it as a starting point for your drawing.
If your junk drawer looks like mine, you’ll have things to draw around for hours. I tried this after seeing the work of Christoph Niemann and Victor Nunes, who have both done this exact thing (much better than I did.)
Here’s another one I found!
Some more ideas for this drawing game are:
Everybody takes turns drawing something with the same object, but doesn’t let anyone else see their drawing until everyone is finished.
Give a rule or topic for what to draw around your objects, i.e. animals, electronics, beach scene, something that starts with the letter S, etc.
Try just using different foods in your house to draw around.
Put 2 completely different objects down on the paper and draw around both of them.
